Using the fluid head

Using the fluid head (2’01”)
Learn how to: Apply precise motion to an object by using the Fluid Head filter.
Apply continues motion by using the ‘Steady’ filter mode.
Axes used: Tilt
Device used: Joystick

Most professional Tripods have friction plates to dampen out unwanted movements: the fluid head. Camera GripTools has a simulator to accomplish something alike: The Fluid Head Filter.
It controls input smoothing. You can adjust the type and the impact.
First we see a camera model with no dampening applied. The motion is jerky.
Next with different levels of filtering.
Then the Steady mode: Continues rotation. This is nice when using a joystick.
Please have a look and do some experimenting with the settings.
